Historically, ‘kylix’ is the ancient Greek word for a drinking cup. During antiquity, it referred to a commonly-used shallow cup with a stem for drinking wine. The word ‘kylix’ eventually became the Latin ‘calix’, which then evolved into the modern ‘chalice’.

Beyond its use in Catholic ceremony and iconography, the chalice is rich with symbolic meaning ranging from creation (a woman’s womb), the connection between the earthly and spiritual realms, the Divine Feminine, the Tarot and the Holy Grail.

For us, Kylix represents the potential for expansion and personal enrichment that travel brings into our lives.

A Kylix Immersion is an opportunity to experience a destination through the people who know it best. We connect you with local guides, historians, artisans, and folk artists who bring each place's history, traditions, and culture to life.

Together, we explore sacred sites, historic landmarks, and meaningful cultural spaces with the intention of experiencing the true character and spirit of the place we are in rather than visiting in a more typical tourist way.

Co-founder Kim has worked in luxury travel for four years. She has worked with both large and boutique-style agencies.

Both Kirsten and Kim have been traveling since high school. They love researching and planning their own trips, in addition to trips for family and friends.

If you join us on a Kylix Immersion, you can expect a 1-2 week journey with like-minded people interested in cultural exploration, history, mythology, art, and local food.

Our Immersions include hotels, private drivers, guides, and activities as outlined in the itinerary.

If you enlist our Private Travel Services, you can expect us to plan every aspect of your trip from start to finish with white-glove concierge service throughout. We arrange private transfers, luxury and boutique hotels, private guides, activities and offer restaurant and leisure suggestions.

At the moment, likely once a year, but we are hoping to offer more as interest grows.

We open our Immersions to a maximum of six travelers.

When sign-up for our Immersions goes live, you can register on our website. We will also announce the sign up on our newsletter and Instagram.

We are based between New York City and Europe (usually Rome).
