‘Kylix’ is the ancient Greek word for a drinking cup. In antiquity, it referred to a commonly-used shallow cup with a stem for drinking wine. The word ‘kylix’ eventually became the Latin ‘calix’, which then evolved into the modern ‘chalice’.

Beyond its use in Catholic ceremony and iconography, the chalice is rich with symbolic meaning ranging from creation (a woman’s womb), the connection between the earthly and spiritual realms, the Divine Feminine, the Tarot and the Holy Grail.

Just as the chalice has carried symbolic significance across the ages, we appreciate the power of objects to bring deeper meaning into our lives. Our hope is to connect you to objects that can do just that.
